I took part in an incredible challenge for sports relief called first nation home, we cycled, ran, rowed and sailed our way round Britain and Ireland totalling over 1000 miles ! The Scottish team was captained by Dougie Vipond other members were Kenny Logan, Scott Hastings, Rob Wainriight ( the rugby team) Steph Cook , Graham Obree and myself were the olympians, Cat Cubie our "weather girl" and Miss Scotland Jennifer Reoch.
It was like doing 2 or 3 , 20 mile time trials per day, in a relay form while switching with other members resting in our "camper van" ( the fun bus !).
What a great way to earn money for charity and kick start my training programme for my first slalom race since retirement 3 years ago, and it happens to be against the podium from the salt lake slalom. Looking forward to getting back into some "disco turns" !! |
